Summer Fun in My Birthday Suit

Cole loves being outside; no matter the circumstances. The day starts off wanting outside and ends with him pitching a fit because we have made him come in to take a bath and eat dinner. Usually he wakes up in the morning and heads straight to the door to see if he can he the dogs. And then again after work... he and his dad stay outside so I can prepare dinner. When I say he loves it I mean loves and can't live with out it. Needless to say, we were doing some yard work Wednesday and he proceeded to get in his pool that we didn't know had water in it. Dax brought him around the house to show me what he had done, took off his shorts and put him down. So where did he go??? Back to the pool. I just took his clothes off and let me go at it. He literally played for 45 minutes naked in our back yard. I guess it doesn't matter when your a baby? Anyway, I took a few minutes to snap some photos of him playing. I couldn't resist his tiny little hiney.(sp?)

Ready or Not

Well, as you can see from the baby widget on the blog we only have 68 days left until baby Owen is expected. What? 68 days, 9 weeks, or just over 2 months; however you want to look at it. Ask me have I done one thing. NO! I feel horrible because most of the time I can't remember how far a long I am or what he should be doing now or how big he is in my tummy. It is so strange to think not long ago I was pregnant with Cole and knew exactly what was going on with him and me. Don't get me wrong; we were a little slow at getting things situated for his arrival as well, but by now I at least had some things done. It is great that Owen is a boy and that we already have most things we need thanks to my sister Hope and a few purchases I made for Cole but those things were used a long time ago with Cole and it is time to pull them back out and start the sterilization and cleaning process that everyone goes through. We plan to get the twin bed out for Cole and move the baby bed for Owen into our room for now. So that is one more thing on my "to do" list. It just keeps getting longer and longer.
We are still in our "quaint" house. I have excepted the fact that we will be when Owen comes. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel...We have started the building process so I at least have hope that we will be moving into a somewhat larger home some day. My hope is that we will be moving sometime in November and my prayer is that it will be before Christmas. This process will be exciting and challenging. I will have to remember that this is a transition home and that I won't be getting all the things that I want. It shall be interesting...me asking and Dax denying.

Fishing Partners

Well, it has taken me a long time to get to this but it is on my mind daily so I thought I should post about it. I tend to only post exciting things or major events in our crazy life here in Troy but I wanted to share my thoughts on my Grandfather.

For those of you that don't know he passed away May 15th. It is so hard to type that because it doesn't seem that long ago yet it seems like forever ago. When I say the power of prayer is powerful and God is so merciful I truly mean it. Granddaddy was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer over a year a go. He began treatments and went through like a trouper. His cancer went into remission and he kept trucking along. Around December we realized he needed open heart surgery at the age of 80. WOW! He came through the surgery well with a working heart but the recovery was hard on him; as you can imagine it would be for someone his age. His cancer was back to the point of needing treatments again so he started back his routine. We slowly watched him become weaker and weaker. Don't get me wrong he fought as long as he could fight but we could all tell that it was wearing on him and his body. Thankfully he was able to get around by himself up until a week before he passed away. The first of May results showed a mass around a vein to his liver causing fluid to build up instead of circulate. This is what caused his body to shut down. We were told that there was nothing we could do. So Granny sat by his side as she has been doing for so long. The whole family came Mother's Day weekend to see him. We had a great time at Granddaddy's and Granny's that day. He was able to sit in the wheel chair, eat with us at the table and see his great-grands play. It is a moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life because it was the last time we were all together. The next day Granddaddy worsened and Hospice was called in. I saw him each day until he passed and I wouldn't take anything for that. I was there Wednesday night and could tell that he was quickly fading from us. He knew who Cole was when we walked in the room though and talked to me some. That night he went to sleep and never really woke. Our pastor, Bro. Ed and Granny prayed over Granddaddy sometime Thursday afternoon. They prayed that the Lord would just take him; that he would just go to sleep and not suffer. The is where the Lord was and is so merciful. Granddaddy a few short moments later went to be with our Lord Jesus. I found out around 4:00 on Thursday. I went to see him one last time and he looked so much better. I know that sounds so weird but the night before his mouth was drooping and one eye could barely open.

We are, of course, saddened by the loss of him. He was precious to all those who knew him and will always be held dear. He was a great friend, husband, father and grandfather. I am so thankful that I got to spend as much time with him as I did. Growing up in Troy and now living here has allowed me to see family and spend time with them that isn't always possible for those who live away from family. Granddaddy and I were fishing partners. There was no one better suited for baiting my hook and taking the fish off. Poor thing, he knew that when we went he wasn't going to fish but he was going to service me while I fished. I spent many nights at that house awaking to cheese toast for breakfast. Those are times that will always be remembered and I look forward to one day sharing them with my children. I am so thankful Cole was able to know Granddaddy. Some may say that he is too young only being 16 months but he reassured me today when my mom took him over to Granny's house and the first thing he did was call for Granddaddy. That makes my heart so happy.

Fun in the Sun

We just got back from the beach and I must say we had a great time. We left last Wednesday and headed to Seacrest to stay until Sunday. Cole absolutely loved it...the beach, the water, all of it. It was nice to get away for a little while and enjoy each other. Oh how I wish we could do it more often. I have attached some pictures of our trip below.

What I was doing 10 years ago...
Well, I was finishing up my freshman year in high school. Dax and I had been dating for a few months and I had just made varsity cheerleader. I thought this was the best thing that could ever happen. I was looking forward to the summer and spending my time with my teammates. I really loved high school and the whole experience.

5 things on my "To-Do List"...
1. go to the grocery store

did i say iron? i don't think i will ever catch up on it...not to mention i hate doing it

5 snacks that I enjoy...at the moment, being pregnant they change

5. chocolate chip cookies

5 things I would do if I was a billionaire...
1. buy a bigger house to raise my family in
2. buy the boys some really cute clothes, shoes, bedding
3. max out the retirement funds and save for the boys' college so we would have little worries
4. let Dax buy the land for us to build on
5. build our house

5 bad habits I have...
1. I fold clothes but don't put them away so they stay where they are until they are worn
2. I don't make our bed daily
3. I buy things and don't take care of them...my ferns for instance (Dax has to remind me to water them)
4. I don't lock the door to our house. Really, it is almost always open.
5. I leave the keys in my car for anybody to take - do you think I trust the people in my town?

Cole is having a BROTHER!

We had an ultrasound Wednesday afternoon and we found baby number 2 is a boy. So, it looks like as of right now I am a mother of boys. :)
We are extremely excited that Cole will have a best friend. We both have to admit that we want a little girl but maybe the next one will be. We are almost certain his name will be Owen. I can hear it now, "Cole and Owen."
The best part is that he is a healthy baby weighing in at 9 ounces. I go back in 6 weeks for my glucose test and another visit. He will be here before we know it.

These are some of the ultrasound pictures. The first one is a profile shot, the second he is looking at you, the third proclaims boy :), and the fourth is another profile. I hope they come through because they are kind of hard to see anyway.

He is Risen!

Here is Cole at the church's Easter Egg Hunt Saturday. He had a good time.

We celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord at church Sunday and went to lunch at Granny's. Cole posed for a few pictures before laying down for a nap.

It is hard to believe that in a few months we will have another child. Because I am horrible at keeping up with the post I am sure there are plenty that don't know we will find out tomorrow what baby number 2 is. I will update with the news and baby's name soon.

More good news!!! As you all know, my husband has ventured in to house flipping and building. We redid a house down the street from ours and we have waited and waited for an offer...we have had several lookers just no takers until today!!! Dax signed a contract this afternoon. Praise the LORD. Now, on to selling the spec house so we can have a house to bring this baby home to.
